POSITION SUMMARY

The Training and Events Senior Associate is responsible for coordinating and supporting a variety of conferences and events related to climate change advocacy and awareness. These projects are both domestic and international and require travel.

Currently reporting to the Training and Events Senior Manager, this role serves as a subject matter expert to the Training and Events team.

This is a hybrid position requiring a two day per week minimum work requirement in our downtown Washington DC office.  The salary for the role is $74,351/year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL

  • Serves as a primary contact for assigned portions of conferences or other events.
  • Manages the communication and schedule coordination.
  • Participates in identifying, contacting and confirming program speakers, trainers, and moderators.
  • Serves as a liaison between the conference planning team and speakers, trainers and moderators, providing information, training, and related services.
  • Track application numbers and demographics for virtual and in-person events
  • Project manage development of event application or registration process and forms
  • Project manage interdepartmental outreach and recruitment efforts to drive applications to the trainings to meet the attendance targets.
  • Oversee application review and participant selection for trainings.
  • Oversee vetting review of participants selected for trainings.
  • Manage development and sending of email communications to applicants and attendees of trainings using mass-marketing email tools.
  • Research and identify applicable vendors for event support.
  • Assist in the management and production of attendee and staff materials.
  • Assist with project closeout, data analysis, debriefs, and final reports.
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture, for example by serving on ad hoc or ongoing work groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong customer service background
  • Awareness of cultural diversity and ability to work effectively with international attendees and vendors
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a timely fashion.
  • Strong logistics and project management skill with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate and train a team.
  • Ability to be flexible, prioritize workload, and manage time effectively
  • Professional working proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, and Keynote
  • Strong project manage documentation, planning, tracking, and communicating to all stakeholders with goal of turning in all deliverables to stakeholders successfully.
  • Strong working proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel
  • Experience with CRM, preferably Salesforce
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work under short deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer required

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree—or equivalent experience
  • Has a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrable volunteer and/or full-time employee management experience
  • Working knowledge of climate policy, just transition, clean energy, grassroots activism, and environmental and climate justice topics in the US and abroad
