Minimum Salary: 117,499.00  MidPoint Salary: 146,869  Maximum Salary: 176,238.00

At the Port of Seattle, we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. Offers will be based on experience similar to the Port job being applied for as well as a review of pay rates for Port employees performing similar work. Salary ranges are under review and subject to change.

Some of what you’ll be doing:

As a Senior Environmental Program Manager, you will manage the Hazardous Waste and Materials Management Program at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

  • You will lead the environmental spill response team and provide direction to environmental actions and other requirements of the Airport’s Emergency Response Plan.
  • You will manage construction waste, airfield, and Port facility recycling initiatives at Port-administration and maintenance facilities under the Municipal Solid Waste Recycling program.
  • You will act as main airport tenant point of contact for Environmental Compliance.
  • You will develop, implement, and manage complex environmental projects or programs including budget and contract management.
  • You will lead or manage environmental reviews for environmental regulatory compliance.
  • You will develop, manage, and administer the budget for assigned projects/programs.
  • You will develop innovative strategies to accomplish environmental goals defined in the Port’s Century Agenda.
  • You will provide recommendations for the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the department.
  • You will provide highly technical solutions to complex environmental issues.
  • You will negotiate the technical terms of complex permits and assist leadership in managing highly complex permits.
  • You will manage the planning, development, and administration of complex to highly complex contracts including developing RFQ/Ps, Scope of Work, and budgets; and monitoring expenses and approving final deliverables.
  • You will support leadership with preparing documentation for Commission presentation and partnering with Port or outside legal counsel to ensure compliance with Port, local, State and Federal policies, and guidelines.
  • You will provide outreach to diverse audiences and stakeholders, including the public, senior/executive level staff both internal and external.
  • You will act as the liaison for the department at interdepartmental and interagency meetings and on commissions, interdisciplinary planning projects, task forces and standing committees.
  • You may participate in process to recommend and support legislative changes to current local, State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • You will supervise one environmental employee.

Who you are:

  • Experienced – You have eight (8) years of spill response, storm water management, solid waste or waste management experience.
  • Educated – You possess a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Desired – We hope you have a Masters degree and aviation industry experience.

What else you need to know:

  • Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally.
  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
  • Work Environment – You will generally in an office and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces.
  • Grade Review – The pay range and grade for non-represented positions are under review and subject to change as part of the Port’s work to implement a new pay program. This review is intended to ensure that positions are aligned with the new program that will be implemented in early 2024.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.  You may also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
