POSITION SUMMARY

The ideal candidate for this role will possess political and distributed organizing skills. The Regenerative Agriculture Organizer is responsible for supporting Climate Reality’s federal and state policy advocacy campaign, Our Climate Moment™: Let’s Get to Work, and its sub-campaign on IRA implementation From Acts to Action. These campaigns are distributed and run through our online platform Reality Hub and our US volunteer-led Chapter network.

The Regenerative Agriculture Organizer is primarily responsible for supporting US Chapters, working groups, and Climate Reality Leaders on education and advocacy around regenerative agriculture as a solution to the climate crisis. This includes drafting materials, hosting meetings/trainings, implementing programming, coordinating with partners, outreach to Congressional contacts, supporting fly-ins with elected officials, and reporting on outcomes.

The Associate will also provide project management and administrative support to Climate Reality teams and assist with the planning and implementation of organizational events as needed.  Currently reporting to the Legislative Advocacy Senior Manager on the Global Campaigns team, this role has no direct reports.

This position is within a union-represented collective bargaining unit, and specific terms and conditions of employment will be subject to a collective bargaining agreement between Climate Reality and the union.

This is a hybrid position, currently expected to work from The Climate Reality Office in downtown Washington DC at least two days per week.

This is a grant run position that will end in February 2025.

The salary for the role is $55,000/year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supporting the development and implementation of strategies and tactics for education and advocacy with Chapters and Climate Reality Leaders to preserve and implement the climate provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
• Supporting the development and implementation of strategies and tactics and to educate and mobilize climate champions in Congress about federal policy as a vehicle for regenerative agriculture solutions to climate change.
• Working with other Climate Reality departments to create content for public education highlighting the role that agriculture can play in solving the climate crisis.
• Creating content for and supporting execution of national webinars to educate our volunteers and partners on regenerative farming, policy opportunities, and conservation funding available through the IRA and encourage mobilization.
• Engaging Climate Reality leadership, Chapters, and the regenerative agriculture volunteer-based working group in targeted calls, emails to, and meetings with key Members of Congress.
• Supporting the development and execution of virtual and in person fly-ins with Members of Congress on agriculture education including logistics, meetings, receptions, and materials.
• Providing technical assistance to Chapters, working groups, and Climate Reality Leaders working on regenerative agriculture issues.
• Drafting materials such as toolkits, one pagers, FAQs, and educational technical information.
• Attending coalition calls to strengthen relationships with national and regional organizations.
• Supporting Climate Reality’s Climate Underground conference and other events, working with vendors and consultants, and project managing programmatic elements and initiatives.
• Reporting regularly on metrics, impacts, lessons learned, and future recommendations both verbally and in writing.
• Supporting and contributing to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture, for example by serving on ad hoc or ongoing work groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Climate change experience preferred.
• Agriculture experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communications skills required.
• Strong project management documentation, planning, tracking, and communicating to all stakeholders with the goal of turning in all deliverables to stakeholders successfully.
• Ability to manage deadlines and multi-task.
• Experience and awareness of cultural diversity, ability to work effectively with a diverse group of organizations and volunteers.
• Salesforce and/or EveryAction experience preferred.
• A dedication to solving the climate crisis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree—or equivalent experience.
• Has between 1-3 years of advocacy and/or policy experience.
• Working knowledge of organizing communities, leading climate change campaigns, and cultural diversity.
