Job Description

Position

Global Energy Monitor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead its Global Geothermal Power Tracker and Global Bioenergy Power Tracker initiatives.

The Global Geothermal Power Tracker is a worldwide dataset of geothermal power facilities, and includes geothermal power plant units with capacities of 30 megawatts (MW) or more. It catalogs every geothermal power plant unit at this capacity threshold of any status, including operating, announced, pre-construction, under construction, shelved, cancelled, mothballed, or retired. Various types of geothermal plant technologies are tracked in the dataset, including flash steam, dry steam, binary cycle, and others. Each geothermal plant included in the tracker is linked to a wiki page on the GEM wiki.

The Global Bioenergy Power Tracker is a worldwide dataset of utility-scale bioenergy power facilities. The tracker includes every bioenergy unit at the 30 MW capacity threshold for operating, announced, pre-construction and in-construction power station units. In some cases, units may combust multiple fuel sources in addition to bioenergy. Each power station included in the tracker is linked to a wiki page on the GEM wiki.

The Challenge

According to the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC), we have less than a decade to make massive and unprecedented changes in the global economy to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. To meet that challenge, Global Energy Monitor is creating trackers and other tools to provide detailed information on energy facilities, sponsors, and financing.
