Full-Time Coldharbour Chair and Faculty Lecturer

Job Description

Position: Western Colorado University seeks a Chair and Faculty Lecturer for the Coldharbour Institute, a regional nonprofit and learning laboratory focused on regenerative living practices which plays a pivotal role in advancing ecological literacy, sustainable living experiments, and community engagement. This position engages undergraduate and graduate students in partnership with the community to innovate toward regenerative solutions for the community and on the 300-acre Coldharbour Institute ranch and historic Gunnison home. We seek candidates with teaching and mentoring skills which complement their ability to lead a partner-oriented, grant-funded, student-centered non-profit.

The Coldharbour Chair and Faculty Lecturer will mentor 8-10 graduate projects and teach 1-2 courses annually.  In collaboration with the Coldharbour Institute staff and Board, the Coldharbour Chair and Faculty Lecturer will lead fundraising efforts through donor relations, grant writing and management of the budget, oversee the Graduate Fellowship Program, and lead an innovative team in partnership with the university and community to implement regenerative solutions through projects and research.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree and academic qualifications in environmental studies, regenerative agriculture, non-profit management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit leadership, sustainable practices, and community engagement.
  • Proven commitment to and action toward creating a diverse, inclusive, equitable, just and sustainable organization.
  • Demonstrated success in fund raising leadership including donor relationships and grant writing.
  • Experience with strategic planning and budget management
  • Outstanding teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.
  • The ability to cultivate local, regional and national partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with and an understanding of property management
  • Successful Event Planning
  • Proficiency with collaborative tools and social media

Compensation: $60,000-$80,000FLSA exempt. In addition to the salary, the position offers numerous supplementary benefits. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
