Position Description

The Institute for Market Transformation seeks a motivated individual to support our work to decarbonize buildings while benefitting the communities they are in —a foundational component to create jobs, reduce harmful pollution, and create healthier spaces in American cities. IMT leverages its expertise in the intersection of real estate and public policy to drive and support policy outcomes, widespread changes in real estate practices, and lasting market demand for high-performing building. This work results in greater economic and environmental impacts, and benefits for all people, especially those in disinvested communities. Each of our staff brings a unique perspective and background to the organization, from experience in federal government to real estate and utility companies.

Achieving our mission requires teamwork—we seek an intern who is passionate about supporting a cause and excited to do meaningful research that will help drive our work. The Business Engagement Intern will support IMT’s Corporate Engagement Program in both resource creation, and updating and maintaining a policy compliance database that will deliver key insights and information to real estate stakeholders who seek to educate themselves and their clients on the transition risk of building performance policies. The intern may support projects across the organization and conduct research and analysis, develop content, and provide administrative and writing support. The intern will report to the Senior Manager of Business Engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Research, compile, and synthesize building energy policy legislation into IMT’s policy database.
  • Create resources for IMT’s Corporate Engagement Program including a monthly newsletter, policy debriefs, and quarterly trainings.
  • Collaborate with the IMT Policy Development team and Business Engagement team on Corporate Engagement Program resource creation.
  • Synthesize research to reflect the changing market and legislative situation and provide market insights.
  • Support logistics, data entry, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Assist with research tasks for the Business Engagement Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Enthusiasm, dedication, and a drive to succeed
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and research skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Ability to perform self-directed work and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines
