Job Description

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) seeks to fill a Botanic Specialist 1 – Natural Resources Youth & Community (NRYC) Program Specialty position that supports Portland Parks & Recreation’s City Nature East Natural Areas unit. 

This Community Stewardship Coordinator position will be responsible for developing and implementing culturally inclusive environmental education and community stewardship programming in PP&R natural areas, parks, and trails. This position will engage and partner closely with a wide variety of community-led/nonprofit organizations, school groups, Friends groups, culturally specific groups, religious organizations, businesses, the public, etc. Focus is to provide high-quality volunteer experiences while also advancing the work of City Nature East to improve overall ecological health of Natural Areas on the eastside of Portland. Candidate must have the ability to clearly and engagingly present information to small and large groups and have demonstrated experience in community relationship building, working with diverse groups of people, as well as a background in natural resources.
