What We Are Looking For

Overland Partners is seeking an experienced professional with strong analysis skills that can collaborate with teams to improve design performance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing building performance simulation expertise, particularly site, energy, daylight, and CFD analysis in addition to life-cycle assessments. He/she will help our project teams in our San Antonio, Dallas, Denver, and New York locations meet our AIA 2030 Commitment carbon and energy reduction goals for planning, architecture, and interiors projects.  The Sustainable Design Specialist will be joining a highly creative, collaborative firm dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence as well as a commitment to creating healthy, sustainable, high-performing, resilient buildings.

Common Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform building performance simulations including but not limited to whole-building life cycle assessment, energy, daylight, glare, shading, and wind.
  • Assist designers, clients, engineers and contractors with sustainable design and system research and implementation.
  • Monitor, track, and benchmark projects and goals.
  • Lead the firm’s AIA 2030 project and annual reporting efforts.
  • Research and assist in the administration of third-party certification pursuits including but not limited to LEED, WELL, and Living Building Challenge.
  • Support internal sustainable design education through developing, coordinating and presenting trainings, cultivating firm-wide resources, and maintaining data on studio sustainability credentials.
  • Coordinate and assist in performing post-occupancy evaluations.
  • Assist in preparing materials for sustainable design award submissions.
  • Foster a green workspace through sustainable practices among multiple office locations.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Required strong proficiency with Building Performance Analysis and Software not limited to Autodesk Insight, IES-VE, Sefaira, CoveTool, Ladybug/Honeybee/Grasshopper, Energy Plus, EC3, One-Click LCA and Tally
  • 3-7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Preferred accreditation in LEED AP, WELL AP, LEED GA, LFA, and/or CHPC
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainable architectural design principals, building science, integrated design, and sustainability certifications (LEED, WELL, LBC, LCC)
  • Strong presentation, communication and organizational skills
  • Degree in architecture, mechanical engineering, building performance, and/or environmental design
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficient in architectural software including Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign
