Full-Time Social Media Marketing Coordinator

Founded in 2016, Seeding Sovereignty is a fast growing community and advocacy organization that fights patriarchal oppression and exploitation of our planet for profit. We simultaneously seed new systems celebrating community, land, body, and cultural sovereignty during this climate crisis for our collective survival and the liberation of marginalized communities. Seeding Sovereignty is a fiscally sponsored project of Earth Island Institute. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Social Media Marketing Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social media marketing, with 1-3 years of experience, and possess a passion for social justice, BIPOC, gender expansive, and environmental issues. This role requires creativity, strategic thinking, and the ability to articulate progressive policies and ideas in a cohesive and compelling manner.

STATUS: Full Time 

SALARY RANGE: $50,000 – 60,000 (based on experience and location). Our generous benefits package includes medical coverage, paid holidays, and vacation and sick time.

LOCATION: This position is remote with some possible travel.

Reports to: Executive Director and Director of Operations & Strategic Capacity 

Responsibilities:

Social Media Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to enhance Seeding Sovereignty’s online presence, increase engagement, and drive awareness of our mission, programming and initiatives.
  • Create and curate engaging, relevant, and visually appealing content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Thread, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Manage day-to-day social media activities, including content creation, scheduling, posting, monitoring, and responding to comments and messages.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media trends, national news, best practices, and emerging platforms to continually improve Seeding Sovereignty’s social media presence.

Content Creation and Management:

  • Create high-quality graphics, images, videos, and other visual content using tools like Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, or other photo editing and graphic creation software.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling and shareable content that aligns with Seeding Sovereignty’s brand voice and values.
  • Conduct research and gather relevant information to create informative and engaging social media posts, stories, and campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting across all social media platforms.

Community Engagement and Outreach:

  • Actively engage with followers, partners, and influencers on social media platforms to foster meaningful connections and promote dialogue around social justice and indigenous rights.
  • Monitor social media channels and influencers for relevant conversations, trends, and news cycles, and leverage them to drive engagement and promote Seeding Sovereignty’s initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute social media contests, campaigns, and live events to further engage the online community. But most importantly, provide a weekly and monthly social media plan that aligns with the news cycle and Seeding Sovereignty’s campaigns. 

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Track, measure, and analyze social media performance using tools like Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Meta Insights, and other reporting platforms.
  • Generate regular reports on key social media metrics, including reach, engagement, conversions, and audience demographics.
  • Use data insights to optimize social media strategies, content, and campaigns for maximum impact.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, Journalism, Business Administration, Ethnic Studies, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in social media marketing, preferably in a nonprofit or advocacy organization.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • Advanced skills in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, or other photo editing and graphic creation software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas and progressive policies in a clear and compelling manner.
  • A deep understanding of social justice issues, indigenous rights, and environmental advocacy.
  • Familiarity with current news cycles and the ability to adapt social media strategies accordingly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and requirements. 
  • Strong organizational skills and a background in tracking progress via Asana. 
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on patterns.
