Pure Strategies seeks a Senior Sustainability Advisor to contribute to our company’s efforts to transform business to create a more sustainable future. For 25 years, Pure Strategies has helped leading companies garner the business benefits of sustainability through improvements in strategy, operations, products, and supply chains. The Senior Advisor will collaborate with Pure Strategies staff to deliver top-quality consulting services.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working independently, performing analytical tasks, collaborating, and communicating with others, managing teams and multiple projects, developing an extensive external network in consumer products and/or retail, and producing high-quality work. This position has a focus on corporate climate consulting, corporate strategy, and other sustainability services for clients.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will be helping some of the most forward-thinking companies in the world develop and implement ambitious sustainability strategies. You will be working with a team of leading consultants contributing as a senior advisor and to the growth of the business. Responsibilities include:
• Use your network to uncover new climate, nature, and other sustainability project opportunities in Pure Strategies’ target markets in consumer products and retail industries.
• Identify, develop, execute, and lead the delivery of projects for clients with a focus on:
• Climate strategy including the development of science-based targets, carbon accounting inventories, and drafting and implementing strategies to help companies meet their targets.
• Quantitative and qualitative work that enables corporate reporting in line with recognized ESG standards and frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, TCFD, TNFD, ISSB, and CDP.
• Potentially also support projects on corporate sustainability strategies, nature and regenerative agriculture strategies, sustainable chemistry, and sustainable packaging (e.g., assessments, commitments, and implementation), based on experience.
• Manage projects and accounts, lead client meetings, and manage team members’ contributions to projects.

Required Experience
• Undergraduate degree in a technical field (e.g., science or engineering) with a focus on sustainability or climate preferred.
• Graduate degree in scientific, business, or related field a plus.
• At least eight years of experience in a senior sustainability consulting or corporate sustainability role.
• Experience in one or more of these industries: agriculture, food and beverage, apparel, home and personal care, retail, or related industries.

Required Capabilities
• A strong sustainability network as this position includes both consulting and business development responsibilities.
• Detailed knowledge of climate change, climate targets, and greenhouse gas emissions accounting.
• Expertise in science-based targets for climate and other related greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting efforts for businesses.
• Project experience developing GHG inventories and carbon accounting.
• Experience with corporate business processes including product design, manufacturing, sourcing and supply chain management, marketing, and business strategy.
• Experience supporting another corporate sustainability program area beyond climate/carbon, e.g., strategy development, sustainable packaging, regenerative agriculture, nature impact assessments, life cycle assessments, and sustainable chemistry.
• Commitment to a sustainable, safe, equitable, and just economy.
Required Project Management and Analytical Skills
• Proven management skills as this role includes client account management.
• Experience leading projects and project teams.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for detailed analysis and the ability to produce well organized and presented deliverables.
• Strong aptitude for critical, qualitative, and analytical thinking.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High competence in excel, database, and other data analysis and visualization software.
• Ability to review and provide direction on excel work and other deliverables to ensure client ready work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.

Work Environment
Pure Strategies team members both collaborate on projects and have a high degree of autonomy. The Senior Sustainability Advisor must be able to deliver highly effective results working from a home office in a virtual team environment. Travel is required for this position for business development, meetings at client sites, and for semiannual company meetings.

This is a salaried full-time position. Compensation and exact job responsibilities will be based on education and experience, with the pay range estimate of $110,000-$160,000. Pure Strategies provides paid time off, partial health insurance reimbursement, generous retirement contributions, and other competitive benefits. This position requires residence in the continental United States. This is a telecommuting role since the company employs a virtual office environment.
