If so, this is the position for you. We want you to succeed and we want to pay you a competitive wage that is in line with your experience. The salary range for this full-time remote role is $79,000-$85,000. This is a remote position.

About the Role: This Senior Campaigner role is part of a new international finance program area for Friends of the Earth within the Food and Agriculture team. As such, this is a newly created senior role requiring a keen understanding of the finance landscape and strong personal leadership qualities. In addition to the Food and Agriculture team, you will be working in close partnership with FoE’s Forest & Climate teams.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Work with the team to develop and implement high impact campaigns designed to shift private sector finance out of industrial animal agriculture and into ecological farming.
  • Build effective, broad-based coalitions and advocacy strategies to advance campaign objectives.
  • Engage with companies, financiers and policymakers on the social and environmental harms of industrial animal agriculture and the need for stronger private and public finance policy.
  • Engage with external allies and partners in the U.S., Europe and Global South, including frontline groups in Latin America.

Required Qualifications:   

  • A passion for action on the environment and a commitment to social justice.
  • A sophisticated understanding of private finance, including ESG strategies.
  • At least 6 years of experience and demonstrated success in a similar or related role including corporate campaigning and organizing, preferably at a campaign-oriented organization (relevant educational experience can be considered in lieu of work experience) or equivalent experience in another sector.
  • Understanding of the industrial agriculture system, the intersection between food and climate, the connection of food justice to racial justice, and the benefits of ecological farming systems.
  • Ability to balance and effectively prioritize across a wide range of campaign activities including advocacy, online and offline organizing, public speaking, coalition work, research, and communications.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and comfort with presenting material to a wide range of audiences, including civil society organizations, funders, supporters, journalists, companies, bank staff and government officials.
  • Excellent decision-making, team building, time management, prioritization and networking skills; demonstrated initiative, flexibility and creativity.
  • Ability to occasionally travel domestically and potentially internationally (once Covid restrictions are lifted).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to inspire trust and respect among colleagues and external partners.
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. FOE does not sponsor any employment related visas.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A background in international development policy, environmental issues, public health, racial justice, food systems, environmental science, and/or public policy.
  • An understanding of international financial institutions and global agricultural supply chains (deforestation, regenerative agriculture, plant proteins).
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
