Mad Agriculture – Posted by petershealy85 El Reno, Oklahoma, United States

Job Description

MAD AGRICULTURE

Our mission is to create a regenerative revolution in agriculture. At Mad Agriculture, we believe that healing our relationships to self, others and the earth is our highest calling. To do this, we put radical ideals to work. We see no division between the work of the heart, soul and mind. Our day-in, day-out work is focused on helping farmers transition to and thrive in regenerative organic agriculture. We provide stewards with land & business support, access to equitable financing and values-aligned markets. We also tell the story of regeneration using a variety of communication approaches that often include collaborations within our community. Mad Agriculture is a fast-paced, action-oriented startup-style nonprofit organization seeking exemplary individuals committed to the revolution. Our culture is entrepreneurial and deeply rooted in a commitment to creating services and products that meet the deepest needs of the farmers and land that we serve.

THE PROJECT

Mad Agriculture, in collaboration with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes and Collaborative Earth, is seeking an individual who is passionate and deeply knowledgeable about climate-smart and regenerative rangeland management to be project manager of an innovative and interdisciplinary project. The project is funded by a USDA Partnership for Climate Smart Commodities (PCSC) grant. This four-year project spans cultural, institutional, and disciplinary boundaries to achieve three main goals:

(1) Develop a demonstration program on tribal lands, implementing and expanding multiple climate-smart practices in the production of American bison and restoring native grasslands. This program will showcase the benefits of regenerative bison production to rangeland, ranchers, and climate resilience.

(2) Rigorously quantify the ecological and climate-related impacts of regenerative bison production and grassland restoration. In this quantification, we will also trial streamlined processes to reduce monitoring costs for future adopters.

(3) Develop production standards as well as a brand of bison that are closely tied to a rigorously verified narrative of regenerative production, fostering a market-driven expansion of the practices demonstrated and studied in this program.

COMPENSATION, LOCATION, AND REPORTING

This full time, salaried role reports to the Director of Mad Lands and will work closely with the Mad Lands team, as well as our Mad Media team. The project is located in three sites in Oklahoma: Concho, Colony, and Canton. The PM may live anywhere in the greater Oklahoma City area, or vicinity of Concho; on-site work is anticipated two to three days per week. Mad Agriculture is based in Boulder, CO and a few trips throughout the year to the home office will be required. Unlimited PTO. Healthcare and 401k benefits provided. Salary ranging from $75-95k, based on experience and ability. This position is grant-funded and will conclude at the end of the 4-year grant period. Position start date ASAP, mid-november target.
