Internship Quality Assurance Internship

The Coffee Quest – Posted by [email protected] Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

Job Description

The Coffee Quest is a socially responsible, green coffee company committed to building a profitable and future-proof value chain for all stakeholders. Our team of around 50 coffee professionals is based in four countries: Colombia, Brazil, The Netherlands, and the United States. Collectively, we strive to directly link coffee growers and roasters, ensuring sustainable pricing for all added value activities.

Following the yearly harvest calendar, we receive samples from our supplier network. Using our quality protocol each sample is examined to determine if the quality corresponds to our requirements.

Your mission will be to support quality control. Manage traceability and origins, and test physical and sensory characteristics of each coffee. Elevate our standards and enhance our recommendations to customers.

Working in our European office means you will be a part of a diverse and multicultural team, including people who speak Dutch, Spanish, German, Italian, and English. You will be stationed at our Amsterdam office, but you will also have the chance to communicate with our sister companies in Colombia and Brazil and our partners across our supply network.

Your activities as Quality Assurance Intern:

1)   Roasting & preparing cuppings: Learn how to digitally profile using the ROEST (one of the latest machines for sample roasting). Prepare cuppings according to our SCA protocol and support the quality supervisor in the evaluation. Understand how to influence the roast and match this to the need for cupping coffee lots.

2)     Physical and Sensory evaluation:  You will actively participate in the evaluation of incoming green offer samples. This includes keeping track of all incoming samples, learning and presenting your findings to the Account Managers. Part of gathering the information includes contacting Exporters and Producers to complete information.

3)   Sample administration: Registration of all incoming and outgoing green samples in Cropster Lab. Checking the physical state of each sample, going through the beans and measuring variables such as humidity levels. Get in touch with our suppliers to provide the corresponding feedback and complete missing information. On a daily basis we prepare sample packages to send out to customers. Work with each account manager to efficiently prepare the perfect package for them to roast & cup.
