Boston and Plymouth, Massachusetts
Manomet, a $5.35 million nonprofit organization headquartered in Plymouth, Massachusetts, with programs reaching from Maine to the Arctic to South America, seeks a president. Over the course of its 50-year history, Manomet has evolved from an internationally respected bird observatory and research station to a multi-faceted organization working on conservation and sustainability across a number of platforms. Grounded in high-quality science, and supported in part by its $23 million endowment, Manomet works across sectors to address environmental challenges. Its signature work with bird research and conservation continues to expand in scope and impact while the organization also engages with for-profit partners in fisheries, forestry, agriculture, and other industries to mitigate the effects of climate change and pursue sustainable economies.
The position calls for a strategic, entrepreneurial leader with proven skills in organizational leadership and decisive staff management. Experience in and enthusiasm for fundraising are essential, as are skills in communication and public representation. Knowledge of and commitment to sustainability and conservation science is important, although the president is not required to be a scientist or programmatic expert. A track record of building effective cross-sector partnerships is essential.
