Job Description

The National Parks Conservation Association, the nation’s leading national park advocacy organization is recruiting for a Policy Manager, Energy & Lands. The Policy Manager focuses on moving forward NPCA’s federal advocacy efforts to reduce oil, natural gas and other natural resource extraction activities on public lands and in public waters that affect national park resources. The Policy Manager is also Government Affairs’ primary liaison with NPCA’s Air Team and coordinates activities related to federal legislation aimed at reducing methane emissions from oil and gas development. The Policy Manager also identifies and coordinates federal advocacy opportunities for NPCA to support federal programs and initiatives that assist in transitioning local communities away from fossil fuel development and extraction. The Policy Manager also supports the Government Affairs department, Regional, Communications and Conservation Programs staff on natural resource and conservation issues, as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years ‘experience in advocacy, research and writing on public policy, and/or government decision making; congressional and/or federal agency experience. Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely. Experience with oil and natural gas development. Comfortable with public speaking and talking with the media. Contributes to creation of a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture that encourages and celebrates differences.
