We are looking for a person who is passionate about advancing clean water initiatives and reducing environmental impacts on Eugene’s urban landscapes and who demonstrates excellent communication, and organizational skills paired with experience in leadership, customer service, and asset management. The Green Infrastructure Section’s motto is clean air, clean water, healthy community. The services provided by this section are primarily focused within the public right-of-way encompassing rain gardens, vegetated medians, and street trees. The stormwater and median maintenance program is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 580 public rain gardens, 200 vegetated medians, and 16 acres of vegetated right-of-way. Our division is currently seeking a leader who is interested in an exciting career opportunity to lead a small team of regular and seasonal employees in the day-to-day maintenance of the public rain gardens.

This position provides an opportunity to lead others and work outdoors in a fun and rewarding team environment. The purpose of the field crew lead position is to perform, organize, and oversee standardized routine maintenance activities of the public vegetated stormwater facilities program per our City’s Municipal Stormwater Permit. Functions as field lead at the job site(s), documents and tracks program activities, assists with program outreach efforts, and represents our program at community events. Maintenance activities include ensuring visual clearance for the transportation system, mowing, weeding, sediment removal, facility enhancement including replacement materials and planting, light tree trimming and landscaping, irrigation repair, integrated pest management, and storm and emergency response. Collaborates with Eugene Public Works staff to fulfill community goals around clean water initiatives and public safety within our public green spaces.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:
Four years of increasingly responsible experience in specialized grounds keeping, garden maintenance, nursery trade, irrigations systems, park and wetland, tree maintenance, open waterway and natural resource maintenance related to area of assignment.

License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Oregon driver’s license or ability to obtain by date of hire.
