Northeast SARE Grant Administrator

 

Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Columbia & Greene Counties is seeking a Grant Administrator to provide leadership for recruitment, review, award, and implementation of one or two grant programs funded by the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program. The Grants Administrator supports Northeast SARE’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals including engagement with under-served communities. They collaborate to develop and improve policies and procedures in support of Northeast SARE grant program effectiveness and commitment to the organization’s outcome statement.

 

Northeast SARE is a United States Department of Agriculture grants program administered by the University of Vermont (UVM) that serves 12 Northeast states and Washington DC. The program administers seven grant programs, making awards to farmers and other agricultural businesses, researchers, educators, graduate students, and people in organizations and institutions working to improve our food system. The current annual budget is $11 million.

 

This is a full-time, exempt position funded through 2-year subawards. Compensation is in the range of $68,000 to $72,000 annually with an excellent benefits package (see application link for more information). This position reports to the CCE of Columbia and Greene Counties Northeast SARE Professional Development Coordinator and receives program oversight from the Northeast SARE Associate Director at UVM. This position is housed in the CCE Agroforestry Resource Center, Acra, NY. Remote work may be possible, contingent on candidate needs and CCE requirements. This position is available on or about January 22, 2024.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Ability to help ensure diverse, equitable, and inclusive programs.
  • Ability to meet the occasional travel requirements associated with this position. A valid NYS driver’s license with the ability to drive and driving record acceptable for Association insurance coverage are required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends especially during peak periods of grant administration activity.
  • Ability to administrator and manage grants and budgets; provide rigorous programmatic oversight.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to produce reports and manage data.
  • Ability to use independent judgement, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work with a team, and coordinate projects.
  • Proficiency or ability to learn and effectively use software including use of the internet, grant program related software, prepare reports and manage data using spreadsheets, MS Office.
