Full-Time Network Stewardship Associate

Job Description

Position

This role will help Build It Green (BIG) build communities that are connected, capable, and inspired to take action together to create a housing system that revitalizes and restores California’s people and natural environment. People connect with Build It Green through networks like the California Housing System Innovators Network to advance their leading-edge work. The Innovators Network is an emerging group of builders, designers, developers, advocates, community-based leaders, decision-makers, and other change-makers. Together, they build community and work together to fundamentally transform California’s housing system to better serve human and ecological vitality.

Working with the leadership of Build It Green and the Network Stewardship Team, the Associate will provide partner services, communications, and process support. This role will support internal operations, so the Build It Green can efficiently engage, measure the health and diversity of our networks, and track milestones and success in connecting a diverse cross-sector of housing professionals and influencers for system change.

What the work looks like

The Associate of Network Stewardship will be responsible for supporting the systems that will support BIG to be efficient and organized in our network engagement efforts, through partner services, communications, and process support. Specific work may include (though isn’t limited to):

Partner Services

  • Assist in preparing and executing an annual in-person gatherings and other events, including:
    • Sending and following up with invitations
    • Tracking registration
    • Supporting the agenda development and event production
    • Playing a key member-facing role at the event
  • Lead the tracking of partner data with care and attention to detail
  • Enable organization-wide access to partner data through shared spreadsheets and constituent relationship management (CRM) management
  • Support the visualization of member data, including creating charts to show participant demographics, trends over time, and survey responses
  • Support the discovery and analysis of existing CRM system scenarios

Communications Support

  • Communicate thoughtfully with partners through scheduling meetings, sharing information about upcoming events, and responding to inquiries as needed
  • Lead the implementation of technical aspects of Zoom calls (creating breakout rooms, administering polls, and responding to participant issues), according to a team-developed agenda
  • Assist with other Network Stewardship communication modes, as they emerge, like newsletters or online community moderation

Process Support

  • Provide project management support to the Network Stewardship Team
  • Manage designated projects from planning and development, to project budget management, and through project closeout
  • Support cross-team collaboration with other staff
  • Participate in cross-team efforts as needed, including work on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ); office culture; and team learning about regenerative principles
  • Other duties as assigned

The Network Stewardship Team is currently led by a team of experienced network professionals through Ullman Consulting in a part-time capacity. The Network Stewardship Associate will work closely with the Ullman Consulting team, as well as other full-time members of the Build It Green staff team.

Location

Our office is located in the heart of downtown Oakland at 300 Frank Ogawa Plaza, close

to BART and AC Transit lines. Employees based in the Bay Area are currently able to work on a hybrid remote and in-office schedule. The ideal candidate is based in the Bay Area, but we will also consider candidates based beyond the Bay Area in California.

Optional but helpful qualifications:

  • College degree and/or the experience necessary to meet the qualifications above
  • Familiarity with/passion for topics that are core to our work: systems thinking, climate change and environmental vitality, building sciences or design, urban planning, housing policy, environmental equity, and social justice
  • Excitement to be part of an organization that embraces the unknown, in order to work at the leading edge of these topics and blaze new trails in the field
  • Experience with community development and engagement at any scale
  • Experience with work tools used at BIG, including Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Mural (digital whiteboard), Asana (project management), Salesforce NPSP (CRM), or similar programs

Work Environment

If not based in a location with access to the BIG office in Oakland, employees must have the appropriate telecommute tools to conduct work at home or at an alternative work location. When working in the office, BIG supplies necessary tools. BIG also provides a Telecommute Expense Reimbursement stipend and a laptop with all necessary software.

  • Considerable time is spent using a computer laptop.
  • May be asked to move objects up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to various locations may be required such as attending conferences or training sessions within the Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.

Travel

The role may require travel, including 2-3 required in-person BIG staff events in the Bay Area and 1-2 overnight (3-5 day) trips per year for Network Stewardship events.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $74,000. We offer a competitive wage and benefits package that includes:
