Job Description

BRIC, LLC is seeking a full-time, NEPA Planner to join our team at the Albuquerque, NM office. The BRIC Team completes a wide range of projects requiring NEPA compliance documents including mine rehabilitation, water systems, dam restoration, natural resource and fire management plans, agricultural plans, land use, noxious weed management, and water management. Under the supervision of the Senior NEPA Planner, tasks for this position will include preparation of NEPA documents, facilitating public and agency outreach, assisting in preparing decision documents, coordinating and overseeing project teams, and providing quality assurance and leadership in all steps of NEPA planning process. Strong writing skills are required. This position may also perform field surveys according to workloads but would be rare event. Salary range: $55,000 – $75,000

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing Environmental Assessments, Categorical Exclusions, and NEPA sufficiency reviews, and natural resource plans on a wide variety of projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Assist in preparing documents for entire NEPA planning process, including Pre-NOI activities public scoping; public comment review and response; decision document; and project record.
  • Serve as project manager for NEPA projects.
  • Coordinate with and support resource leads for technical resource tasks supporting NEPA document preparation.
  • Prepare maps and graphics to support compliance documents and plans.
  • Attend and support public and agency meetings
  • Communicate directly with federal, local, Tribal, and state clients.
  • Support the business line growth objectives through preparation of NEPA documents and contributing to business development and proposals.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and professionalism at the project, team, and office levels by maintaining positive relationships with co-workers, clients, and project teams.
  • Provide technical editing for environmental documents
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in natural resources, anthropology, environmental planning, environmental science, or another related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in environmental consulting industry and NEPA document preparation.
  • Demonstrated planning experience through working on multi-disciplinary team projects; meeting facilitation with clients and agencies; and preparing or directing staff in the preparation of technical studies or NEPA documents.
  • Project and task management skills with proven ability to complete work on schedule and within budget.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • A working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations including NEPA, the Federal Land Policy and Management Act, the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ArcGIS, and Adobe

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in natural resources, anthropology, environmental planning, environmental science, or another related field.
  • GIS skills and experience
  • A working understanding of NEPA planning procedures for federal land management and regulatory agencies, including but not limited to the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Reclamation, and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
  • Excellent organization, schedule, and budget management skills.
