About the Position

Location: Reduction In Motion Office, located in Fallston, MD

Salary: Starts at $45,00

Benefits Offered: Yes. After a 90-day probationary period, health insurance coverage options are available and paid time off kicks in at 80 hours per year. Additionally, there are typically nine paid holidays throughout the year plus half-day Fridays in July! We also offer a 401k plan for retirement planning purposes.

Job Purpose: 

Work directly with the Sustainable Operations Manager to perform support tasks in Reduction In Motion’s data management process. The Junior Data Analyst will review and analyze our current database of customer information and data reporting tools to effectively identify trends and/or any missing or incomplete data. They will make recommendations for process improvement and ultimately advance our data reporting capabilities to our clients by synthesizing data into easily digestible formats than can be used for decision making.  We are looking for candidates that work well with others but also possess a quantitative, problem-solving and solutions-based instinct with the ability to complete tasks and projects in a timely and efficient manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the process of collecting and transferring data from hardcopy waste invoices and other formats to digital format utilizing our web-based application, WasteFlowInsight.
  • Enter, manage, analyze, and visually report data within current analytical tools.
  • Make recommendations related to process changes and support with implementation of chosen changes as needed.
  • Assist in reconstruction of current analytical tools and dashboards as needed to increase efficiency and advance data reporting capabilities.
  • Assist in the preparation of data reports for monthly client progress reports and other internal and external data report requests as needed (such as mandatory annual waste reporting for clients and project time reports).
  • Other administrative duties as needed and general support for office, sales, and communications.

Skills / Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Information Management, or Computer Science preferred.
  • Strong research, communication (both oral and written), time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills: There is a lot of data to be organized; candidate must be able to collect data and maintain it in a well-organized manner that is easily duplicatable for other current or future employees.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills: Candidate must be well versed in exploring data, applying statistical analysis methods and techniques, visualizing data, and preparing reports and dashboards.
  • While collaboration skills are critical for success, the ideal candidate will know how to take direction as well as be independent and self-directed, when necessary.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and programming language, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (using Pivot tables, Macros, and fully formula driven input-output models).
  • Must have a detail-oriented approach, but also be able to see how details relate to the big picture by taking pride in the work our organization and our clients’ organizations are performing and understanding the positive impacts that can be achieved by allowing data-driven and evidence-based decisions.
  • May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on client requirements.
