This is a part-time position based in Winston-Salem, NC.

The Green Jobs Program Manager will work with business partners, educational institutions, and job-seekers to develop and implement programs that support a local green job economy. Effective candidates will be excellent relationship builders with experience in event planning, outreach, and research.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with business owners, educational institutions, and community leaders across the Piedmont region. Attend a wide variety of community events and regularly meet with prospective and current stakeholders to build long-term partnerships.
  • Plan and launch new programs and events that stimulate the green economy, including an annual Green Jobs Fair that connects employers with job seekers, regular educational webinars, and a directory for local green job opportunities.
  • Grow existing PEA programming, including the Green Business Network. Conduct outreach, communicate with participants, develop new printed and digital materials, and research best practices as programs develop.
  • Research and develop materials that support a growing local green job economy, including FAQs and guides for businesses and educational institutions.
  • Collaborate with the PEA team on events, including the Sustainability Roundtable and Piedmont Earth Day Fair, that reach local and regional audiences and require broad participation from local businesses and organizations.

We are looking for you, if:

  • You are an energetic communicator and enjoy facilitating collaborations with businesses, organizations, and individuals.
  • You possess strong organizational skills and can comfortably juggle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • You have an interest in serving the needs of the local business community and identifying ways to support a growing green economy.
  • You are passionate about developing and supporting programs that support a more just, resilient, and sustainable region.
  • You share PEA’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and are committed to working thoughtfully and sensitively with a wide range of people.
  • You enjoy working as part of a team to achieve a big impact.
  • You have 3-5 years of experience working in the nonprofit or corporate social responsibility sectors.


This is a part-time position for 25 hours a week with the potential for additional hours as funding becomes available. The salary range is $25,000- $30,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid time off and a flexible work schedule. PEA offers some flexibility on working location, with an expectation that at least half of working hours take place in our Winston-Salem based office.
