Woodstock Farm Sanctuary rescues farmed animals and gives them care and sanctuary, connects animals with people to advance veganism, and advocates for animal rights in alliance with other social justice movements. We welcome visitors to come and meet animals who are most commonly exploited, abused, and killed in animal agriculture. Our animal residents are given lifelong sanctuary and are treated with respect as individuals. By giving farmed animals the chance to live their lives with dignity and by sharing their stories, we advocate for veganism and aim to reduce suffering for all

The  Woodstock Farm Sanctuary Development Department is seeking a dedicated and organized Grants and Foundations Coordinator to join our team. The Grants and Foundations Coordinator will report to the Development Manager and will work closely with other members of the Development team, Executive Director, and administrative staff. This position manages all foundation and grant relationships and is responsible for growing the revenue of the program by 20% in the first  year.

The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic about non-profit fundraising, grant writing, relationship management, donor engagement, and helping to support Woodstock Sanctuary’s mission, vision, and ongoing advocacy. This is a non-exempt, full-time, year-round, benefits-eligible position reporting to the Development Manager.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
  • Research grant opportunities from family foundations, community foundations, and private foundations.
  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
  • Develops proposals by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
  • Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
  • Enters and monitors tracking data.
  • Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, impact reports, annual reports, and organization credentials.
  • Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
  • Obtains approvals by reviewing proposals with key providers and project managers.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for foundations program and hitting revenue goals.
  • Supports other development programming such as giving circles, major gifts, annual fund, and events as needed.

This position requires standing and sitting for hours at a time, interacting with farmed animals, and moving around the large Sanctuary property for tours, events, and donor visits. Some weekend or night hours may be required as well as additional responsibilities based on skill set.

Starting pay is $23-$27/hr depending on experience. The position is full-time (35 hours a week) with a hybrid model in which work is done remotely two to three days a week, with a flexible schedule. Benefits include health, dental, and vision as well as life insurance and a 401k plan.

*Remote candidates will also be considered. However, semi-regular travel to the sanctuary and possibly elsewhere will be required.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of direct experience in grant writing / non-profit writing.
  • Government grant writing experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dedicated and motivated to hit revenue goals, experience in working toward and achieving revenue goals preferred
  • Experience in building and maintaining donor relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Proficiency in or ability to learn database management and reporting
  • Dedication to the mission of Woodstock Farm Sanctuary
  • Experience in project management preferred
