The Community Office for Resource Efficiency (CORE) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Director to guide the organization to the next-level in climate action; leading the Roaring Fork Valley to a carbon-free, net-zero energy future.  

The Executive Director will be a passionate and strategic climate action champion; leading and growing a professional team while overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the organization. The Executive Director is a highly visible relationship builder and thought leader who serves as the key spokesperson, fundraiser and advocate for climate and the community throughout the region.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to cultivate, develop and empower a high performing staff,  building an organizational culture that values innovation, ownership, accountability, and excellence.  The Executive Director reports to the CORE Board of Directors, comprised of government, utility and citizen members.

Organizational Profile: Community Office on Resource Efficiency (CORE) is a 27 year-old nonprofit organization based in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley.  Since 1994, CORE has been helping businesses and residents save energy and cut carbon emissions to mitigate climate change. CORE was created by a group of visionary citizens, local government leaders, and utility providers coming together to conserve natural resources.  CORE is an innovative leader, breaking ground with the nation’s first carbon mitigation fee, Colorado’s first wind energy, one of the earliest solar rebate programs in the US and is currently developing a methane capture and destruction project in partnership with local, state and federal agencies.

As impacts worsen and new climate change mitigation options emerge, CORE seeks to innovate and evolve to more rapidly address the growing climate crisis. CORE’s services to local governments, businesses and individuals include;

  • Expert assessment and technical consultation; 
  • Project advising, planning and implementation;
  • Administration of climate action grants and incentives;
  • Advancement of climate change mitigation policy; and 
  • Project development and implementation of innovative climate action strategies.

CORE’s Purpose: To work cooperatively with businesses, individuals, government entities and utilities to achieve measurable improvements in the health of our climate through energy and water efficiency, decarbonization, electrification and greenhouse gas reduction, to benefit the environment and develop a more sustainable climate neutral economy.

Pay Range: $120,000 – $150,000
