Job Description

NorthWoods invites applications for an Executive Director position from a seasoned, successful professional with experience in conservation non-profit management and a passion for the Northern Forest of New England. The ideal candidate will enthusiastically share our vision of stewardship, conservation, education, and forest management, and have the ambition, leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit to continue to develop, strengthen, and expand our programs.

Qualifications include having a college degree or experience in a field related to conservation, forestry, environmental education, or natural resource management, and 7 years hands-on experience in a non-profit organization.Candidates will have a working knowledge of conservation, forest stewardship, and environmental education programs. Duties include ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of NorthWoods’ operations through program development; employing an array of advancement activities, such as individual giving, grants, and corporate relations; and supporting the staff and the Board of Trustees in the continued evolution and growth of the organization.   

Candidates will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a proven track record of successful development, management, and communications experience. They will also be familiar with the ecological, cultural, economic, and political landscape of the Northern Forest. Finally, candidates will relish challenge and the opportunity to be of service to multiple constituencies.

The NorthWoods Stewardship Center in East Charleston, Vermont, is celebrating 29 years of commitment to promoting the long-term stewardship of human and natural communities of the Northern Forest and Connecticut River Watershed. NorthWoods fulfills its mission by providing environmental education, and conservation services, supporting the sustainable management of our natural resources, and improving the health and well-being of Northern Forest communities by supporting the arts, recreation, and cultural heritage.

 

Salary range : $50,000- $65,000 plus benefits commensurate with experience
