Job Description

The Role –

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking an Environmental Specialist to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.

The key responsibilities of this Environmental Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Environmental Permit Management (NPDES/SPDES, Chemical Bulk Storage Tanks, Petroleum Bulk Storage Tank, Oil Spills Prevention and Preparedness, etc.)
  • Manage environmental compliance inspections, regulatory recordkeeping and reporting, and written correspondence with environmental regulatory agencies
  • Knowledge of industrial waste water treatment practices and RCRA waste management
  • Chemical Inventory Management
  • Participate in EHS Audits
  • Facilitate Compliance Driven Projects- Identification, Evaluation, Equipment Selection, Purchasing, Installation & Training/New Policy implementation
  • Environmental Program/ Policy revisions
  • Familiarity with annual Reporting pertaining to Tier II, RCRA waste accumulation and reduction, and water withdrawal
  • Annual EPCRA Toxic Release Inventory
  • Biannual Reporting pertaining to industrial waste water discharge
  • Quarterly Reporting pertaining to RCRA waste
  • Familiarity with RCRA, NPDES/SPDES, Air Permits and Title V requirements, SPCC, CFATS, Clean Air Act, EPCRA/SARA
  • Familiarity with air, water, waste, DOT and other environmental regulations and reporting requirements for Federal, State and Local regulations

The Person –

The key skills and qualities of an Environmental Specialist at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent education/ work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with electroplating facilities is preferred.
  • CHMM preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental, health & safety policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Strong communication verbally and written
  • Ability to deliver environmental compliance training
  • MS Office Skills – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • MRP/ERP system experience preferred
  • Typing, sitting, bending
  • Interaction with operations (walking, lifting, bending, climbing stairs)
  • Occasional travel
  • Ability to apply mental processes, in order to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to remain calm and in control, even when under pressure & ability to manage stress.
