Job Description

This position will play a pivotal role in the Office of Sustainability, working with many internal and external groups. The primary focus of this position will support City-wide efforts to improve air quality, reduce our impact on climate change, and prepare for a changing climate.

This position will:

• Develop and implement a variety of air quality and climate programs, projects and activities.
• Coordinate meetings, engagement, and planning with existing organizations and stakeholders to understand air quality and climate mitigation/adaptation needs
• Collaborate with organizations and stakeholders to plan and develop programs and activities or improve air quality and implement climate mitigation/adaptation initiatives.
• Assist with management of a City Commission including development of meeting agendas, notes, and planning.
• Serve as City representative before community groups, businesses and/or the media.
• Well qualified applicants will possess the following:
  • Skill in organizing, coordinating and executing assignments, projects and programs
  • Skill in analyzing data, especially cost/benefit analysis
  • Skill in project planning and project management
  • Ability to work well with individuals from a variety of different backgrounds and experience, including community leaders, residents, service providers, local officials and elected representatives
  • Knowledge of conservation, climate protection, air quality, and sustainability trends and communication strategies
  • Skill in leading collaborative processes with cross-functional teams from various City departments, organizations and business entities, and community members
  • Skill in public presentations to executive management, City Council, community organizations, Boards and Commissions, and the general public. Poise in public settings
  • Skill in oral and written communications
