ABOUT THE DIRECTOR OF INNOVATION & DEVELOPMENT

This new executive leadership role is an opportunity to build on our legacy of innovation by:

  • Establishing a diverse funding strategy and centralized development function from the ground up
  • Creating and leading an internal innovation services function to facilitate and elevate innovation across the organization

This opportunity requires a visionary executive leader with a passion for innovation and broad development expertise who can lead transformational change, inspire engagement and fuel our growth as an organization.

This position reports to Energy Trust Executive Director Michael Colgrove and serves as part of the organization’s executive management team.

  • A highly engaged, mission-focused team of 120 Energy Trust staff members
  • Energy Trust Board of Directors
  • External stakeholders, partners and funders across local and federal government, legislative, nonprofit and community organizations, and our customers

What We’re Looking For

  • Expertise in business development strategy and execution, particularly with nonprofits, large funding development, federal contracts, and grants (i.e., excluding small donor fundraising campaigns, gala/event planning).
  • Exceptional skill in developing and strengthening relationships across a wide variety of stakeholders, partners and funders, including direct experience engaging authentically with rural communities, communities of color and low-income communities. Lived experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of finance and program management to inform strategy, opportunity analysis and prioritization, resource planning and contract negotiations.
  • Deep knowledge and passion around innovation best practices, promoting a culture of innovation, and establishing and leading an internal consulting or services function.
  • Strategic and inspiring leadership, collaborating across the executive team and the organization, leading transformational change, motivating and developing others, demonstrating vision and integrity, and exemplifying commitment to our mission, vision and purpose.
  • Demonstrated understanding of clean energy policy and program delivery, key industry stakeholders, energy industry or utility markets and operations is strongly preferred.
