Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) – At-Will Position. (Salary grade: $172,453 – $247,902 annually, plus a generous benefits package including PPO/HMO.)

Performs a wide variety of duties as the Energy & Sustainability Department head. Serves as staff lead for regional energy, sustainability, and environmental programs to promote energy efficiency, air quality, recycling, water conservation, green energy, and other initiatives. Supervises staff and coordinates implementation of Desert Community Energy (DCE), Inland Regional Energy Network (I-Ren) and efforts to address the future of electricity service. Serves under the direction of the Executive Director to provide support to the CVAG Energy & Sustainability Committee, the CVAG Executive Committee, DCE Board, other committees and working groups. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking initiative, is a creative problem solver, and enjoys working on innovative programs to advance energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance urban greening, and establish a sustainable future.

REQUIREMENTS:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in public or business administration, environmental studies, planning, or a related field and seven (7) years of increasingly responsible environmental, waste reduction, or sustainability program development and/or project management experience.
