Dickinson College Farm, Crew Leader

The Dickinson College Farm, located in south-central Pennsylvania, is a diversified production farm that is fully integrated into the campus life and learning at Dickinson College. As an educational production farm within a liberal arts institution, the Dickinson College Farm manages 80 acres of land that raises food for the campus and local community and serves as a venue for academic studies, classes, and research.  Each year the College Farm raises between 8-10 acres of certified organic vegetables for sale to campus eateries, a robust CSA program, and vibrant producer-only farmers’ market. In addition to raising vegetables, the farm manages 60 acres of pasture for beef and lamb production, maintains a medium-scale composting operation, and integrates renewable energy applications into its operation like solar and biofuels. The staff at the College Farm are made up of college students, full-time managers, and seasonal apprentices. As a team, farm staff work together to grow, sell, educate, and innovate – providing an array of opportunities for the Crew Leader position.

The Dickinson College Farm Crew Leader position offers a unique opportunity to build upon existing production and crew management skills while advancing technical know-how, project leadership, and understanding of how to run a successful production farm with strong educational roots. The Dickinson College Farm invites those passionate about farming to apply for its 2024 Crew Leader position. Successful Crew Leader applicants will have a minimum of two vegetable production seasons under their belt and be eager to engage in a team focused workplace environment.

This full-time position will run from early spring until mid-December and includes a competitive compensation package including paid vacation and sick leave.
