Job Description

Position Overview

The Community Programs Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt permanent position that reports to the Community Programs Manager and is responsible for coordinating and delivering VOC’s strategic engagement programs designed to broaden the variety of people involved in outdoor stewardship. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating existing programing, such as the Healthy Community Program (HCPs), Affinity Partnership Program (APPs), Cairn Program, Grossman Program, youth and family programming, OSI trainings, Team Stewardship Days (TSDs), and various public volunteer projects. A large portion of this role includes field-based work, especially with diverse audiences, that requires project management and planning skills and the ability to lead outdoor stewardship projects.

Compensation

The wage range for this position is $18.50 – $19.50/hour, dependent on experience. This is a non-exempt position. Employee will earn overtime pay when they work over 40 hours in a week, or 12 hours in a day.

Responsibilities

Program Implementation and Project Management

  • Attend coalition meetings with Community Programs Manager
    • Implement coalition-related on-the-ground projects
  • Assist in the administration of the Grossman Scholarship Program, including preparing annual application materials, serving as the administrative point of contact for applicant questions, and participating in the selection committee
  • Implement annual program and project plans and ensure goals are being met
    • Serve as the primary contact for the Cairn Program
      • Carry out the on-the-ground activities of the Cairn Program, including recruitment of participants and mentors, training of mentors, planning and implementation of monthly activities, and securing partnerships that will further enhance the program for youth participants
    • Serve as the primary contact for the youth and family program and carry out the on-the-ground related projects
      • Implement Healthy Community (HCPs) that help address health disparities such as access to fresh food, clear air and water in communities disproportionately impacted by public policies
      • Support our public and Team Stewardship Day (TSD) projects
      • Assist with coordination of volunteer trainings
    • Manage a portfolio of volunteer stewardship projects requiring:
      • Facilitating, planning, and communicating with land managers and other partner organizations
      • Coordinating volunteer-leader project teams
      • Providing on-site staff leadership in the field
      • Facilitating pre-and-post event communications
      • Managing event -related logistical requirements
    • Support Community Programs Manager with program development, annual program updates, evaluation, and reports

Program Tracking

  • Ensure program outcomes and impacts are tracked through VOC’s internal database
  • Assist in the recruitment of volunteer leaders, prospective volunteers, and new group or organizations.
  • Compile and maintain accurate project data, volunteer records, and expense reporting by project
  • Acquire in-kind donations for projects; ensure accurate donation documentation
  • Assist with project development, partner relationships for future projects and the annual project scouting and selection process

Assist with additional organizational efforts, such as:

  • Provide logistical/staff representation as needed at other VOC and partner events
  • Work collaboratively with development team to promote membership and other fundraising efforts.
  • Administrative support (e.g., data entry, report preparation, and mailings) for various assigned committees, project teams, and projects.
  • Perform related duties as required to support and strengthen the mission and purpose of VOC.
