POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Associate Consultant
Reports to: President
Classification: Full-time, at-will, non-exempt position
General Summary:
Under the general direction of the President, the Associate Consultant assists senior staff in the consistent and effective achievement of Consero Solutions’ work to empower local organizations to enrich communities and protect the environment. The Associate Consultant will assist senior staff with client projects, including project development and management, policy analysis, community engagement, funding research and strategy, and state and federal advocacy. Consero’s clients include cities, counties, special districts, and non-governmental organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate Consultant applies an innovative approach to an array of project tasks to ensure Consero helps clients achieve public policy goals and implement high-quality, inclusive community projects. The specific duties of the Associate Consultant include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with client projects managed by senior staff, including conducting client research, planning public outreach events, and completing other tasks
- Assist with project development and management, including attending meetings, writing detailed meeting summaries, and following up on action items
- Help ensure clients and team members move forward with key deliverables to achieve project goals on time and on budget
- Complete templates and first drafts of client documents, including in fields and issue areas that may be novel or technical
- Draft, edit, and format reports, policy memos, funding proposals, and outreach and marketing materials
- Assist with funding research, grant writing, and grant management, including coordinating grant writing teams, drafting and editing applications, and completing grant reimbursements and reports
- Assist with developing and scheduling social media posts and content calendars across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Help maintain and update Consero’s website
- Draft and circulate a quarterly newsletter for Consero
- Review and generate correspondence, including maintenance of hard copy and electronic files
- Assist with other duties as assigned, including administrative and office duties when needed
Qualifications Required:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience or combination of education and experience (for every year of education, two years of professional experience) in a related field
- A valid California driver’s license and appropriate insurance for personal vehicle

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Harvest, Slack, Asana or other project management software, and Canva or other graphic design software
- Experience or familiarity with consulting, including practices such as time-tracking
- Experience or familiarity with public affairs, including implementing communication strategies
Work Conditions/Hazards:
- This is a hybrid position, with the amount of on-site versus remote work determined by the President depending on operational needs, but generally at least three days per week in the office
- Work is generally performed during normal work hours, Monday through Friday, between 8am and 6pm. However, work duties may require availability outside of normal work hours, including occasional evening and weekend work, and occasional overtime hours.
- Potentially significant off-site travel in California is required to meet with clients
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 consistent with the employee handbook
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently required to stand; walk; sit; drive; use hands and fingers to handle, carry, and type; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear
- The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs; stoop or kneel. The employee may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (e.g. reading and computer work) and distance vision (e.g. driving) and ability to adjust focus

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay (Hourly): $28.85 to $38.46 per hour (commensurate with education, experience and skill)
