Sisters Hill Farm is a beautiful 400 member vegetable CSA located in the Hudson Valley, now entering our 25th year. We’re seeking an Assistant Farm Manager 2023 season.

General Summary: Under the supervision of the Director / Farmer at Sisters Hill Farm, the Assistant Farmer will work in collaboration with the Director/Farmer to develop and manage all aspects of Sisters Hill Farm. The Assistant Farmer will have supervisory oversight of the Apprentices and be involved in their training and orientation.

 Responsibilities:

• Assist Director / Farmer in training apprentices in all aspects of farm production including but not limited to, planting and cultivation of crops, harvest, wash and pack, organizing and overseeing distribution, interacting with members, use, storage and care of tools, tractor use and maintenance, greenhouse care and writing articles for weekly newsletter.
• Train, supervise and work in collaboration with apprentices to ensure timely farm harvest.
• Respond to inquiries at Sisters Hill Farm, via email and/or phone.
• Investigate ways to expand charitable contributions to families in need.
• Assist Director / Farmer with essential infrastructure tasks..
• Develop and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with apprentices, members, vendors and/or representatives of external organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including administrative tasks after instruction from farm director.

Compensation

Assistant Farm Manager will start at  $17.00/hr with free access to vegetables on the farm, and low rent  housing available on site. The job will begin on a seasonal basis as a trial.  If the fit is good the opportunity exists to transition to full time with the potential for increased wages and benefits.  Work week hours vary as needed depending on weather and harvest conditions, though they generally are 40hr/week at the start of the season and become 45hr/week at the end of May. Sisters Hill Farm is part of Mid-Hudson C.R.A.F.T., an important educational resource for young farmers.
