Full-Time AmeriCorps/TerraCorps Service Member
TerraCorps is an innovative national service program that prepares and mobilizes emerging leaders to help communities conserve and secure land for the health and well-being of people and nature. We do this by supporting AmeriCorps members who serve with nonprofit organizations across the state to tackle issues around land access, urban agriculture, and conservation. Our program term has started but our 2019-2020 cohort is not yet complete. We are looking for one more member to join our team and serve with one of our partner organizations in the following position:
• Community Engagement/ Youth Education Coordinator with Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary- Mass Audubon (Sharon)
Community Engagement Coordinators (CEC)/ Youth Education Coordinators (YEC) build the long-term capacity of their Service Sites by developing culturally inclusive systems, programming, partnerships, and events. By collaborating with community groups, CEC/YECs demonstrate how the sustainable use and conservation of land can help address community needs related to education, public health, economic development, neighborhood revitalization, homelessness, poverty, hunger, and cultural decline. In this role, Members may also engage community members and youth in service learning, experiential education, and inquiry-based science and nature learning projects. They collaborate with schools, libraries, and youth groups on projects that connect people to the natural world, improve science literacy, and encourage healthy lifestyles. By connecting a broader cross-section of people to our natural world, CEC/YECs build bridges that reinforce the connection between land and a sustainable social, economic, and environmental future for all people.
Members serve in full-time (38 hour/week), 11-month positions from August 26th, 2019- July 24th, 2020. The term has already started but members joining us in the next couple of weeks will still be able to successfully complete the program. These 1,700-hour AmeriCorps positions receive a living allowance and are eligible for an education award, and additional AmeriCorps benefits. Application specifics, position descriptions, and additional information about how to apply can be found at www.terracorps.org/become-a-member/
