Full-Time Accounts Payable Coordinator

Job Description

The Southern Environmental Law Center is seeking an Accounts Payable Coordinator in our Charlottesville, VA. headquarters office. This individual will join our Finance team and report to our Assistant Director of Finance. At a high level, this position will manage our credit card program, manage invoices, and work on electronic filing organization. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful, nationally recognized organization that is effectively addressing some of the most pressing and challenging environmental issues throughout the South and the nation.

The ideal candidate will bring 3-5 years of relevant experience, strong Excel skills, and excellent communication skills.

SELC currently has a hybrid work model that offers employees the flexibility to work at home two days per week. We require all staff to be vaccinated and boosted and to provide proof of vaccination to work in our offices. This is a full-time position and requires successful completion of a background check prior to beginning employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable – review, enter, and pay invoices
  • Management of SELC’s credit card program
  • Electronic filing organization
  • Support the Finance Team in the reporting, annual audit, and budgeting processes
  • Support organization’s long-term strategic plan financial goals and deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • A genuine interest in and commitment to helping SELC create and foster a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Great Plains or similar accounting systems
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Credit card program management experience
  • Experience in training other staff
  • Strong attention to detail

Compensation:

SELC offers salaries competitive with other leading environmental nonprofits nationally and provides an excellent benefits package. The starting salary range for this position is from $53,700 to $67,125, commensurate with experience. For more details about our benefits package, please visit our Careers page.
