Full-Time Sustainability Consultant
Rushing is seeking a dynamic, self-driven Sustainability Consultant to join our Sustainability Studio.
Rushing is a Seattle based MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) engineering and sustainability consulting firm. Our firm is founded on the principles that a multi-disciplinary approach is critical in evaluating building performance from a whole-building perspective.
The Sustainability Studio provides holistic sustainability consulting including green building rating system management, strategic planning, integrated design, and workshop facilitation.
This individual will join our team to manage and administer green building rating systems, with a focus on LEED for Homes projects.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial team member who knows how buildings are constructed, can function independently, calmly juggles multiple projects at once, switches gears readily, and will further strengthen our relationships with the building industry. In short, we are seeking someone who is:
-Savvy with Building Science – one who knows how the various elements of a building impact one another and integrate to function optimally.
-Engagingly Articulate – a clear communicator, teacher and good storyteller.
-A Thoughtful Observer – a team player who understands our client’s needs, draws out their specific goals and translates them into compelling ideas and solutions.
-Work with project teams to assess and hone in on project-appropriate sustainability strategies for new construction, major renovations, tenant improvements, and existing buildings;
-On site verification of green building measures, in support of LEED for Homes and/or Built Green;
-Train general contractors on green building practices;
-Manage and administer LEED and/or Built Green projects;
-Conduct sustainable design workshops and project meetings;
-Develop and present manuals, reports, meeting notes and other documents for communicating recommendations and/or sustainable design processes.
-Firsthand experience with sustainable design and construction;
-Current Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst certification, HERS Rater certification, or equivalent building science training preferred.
-LEED for Homes Green Rater preferred, or deep familiarity with LEED for Homes;
-Background in architecture, engineering, environmental studies or a related field;
-Relevant 4-year college degree;
-Familiarity with current building codes and regulations.
