Role Summary

This is a senior level energy analyst position responsible for performing unique services in the areas of energy analysis, reporting and client support.

Role Description

  • Compile and interpret utility-related energy data and respective databases. Compile standard and customized reports on electric, gas, water, sewer and other utility and energy data.
  • Track service type, vendor, location, rate and energy load, including kW and kWh by month or invoice cycle and by fiscal year in order to support regular monthly reporting.
  • Report anomalies regarding kWh usage on hourly, daily and weekly schedules, cost analysis against division budgets.
  • Coordinate budget development services by utilizing site, consumption, cost and forecast information for baseline development and final deliverable.
  • Perform financial accrual, variance, and trending analysis reporting.
  • Use analytical abilities to determine and identify trends in expense and usage data.
  • Assist in searching for regulatory issues.
  • Facilitate energy trending and benchmarking process for clients.
  • Locate and evaluate sites that are not within the client’s standard profile for energy use and/or cost and report these outliers to appropriate client personnel.
  • Generate situation-specific reports and perform related investigative analysis.
  • Demonstrate ability to engage and support direct client interaction in both informational and problem solving situations
  • Provide recommendations and interpretive advice based on available data.
  • Develop awareness and communicate product solutions that are available to support the client.
  • Contribute to the continuous process improvement for the analyst services provided.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive toolsets for risk management and reporting for procurement team.
  • Assist in development of new energy procurement products and marketing materials.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of assigned regulatory markets.
  • Communicate with utilities, local distribution companies, and public utility commissions to gather timely, accurate, and complete energy market intelligence.
  • Explain and educate clients on difficult energy market dynamics and metrics

Reducation may be considered

  • Four years of experience as an energy analyst performing related tasks and services.
  • Demonstrated experience with Access databases, SQL Server and interaction with large data sets.
  • Experience with standard report design elements including statistical analysis in a business or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to create and manage complex Excel spreadsheets, including nested formulas, pivot tables and graphics.

Role Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering preferred.
  • Other combinations of experience/education may be considered
  • Four years of experience as an energy analyst performing related tasks and services.
  • Demonstrated experience with Access databases, SQL Server and interaction with large data sets.
  • Experience with standard report design elements including statistical analysis in a business or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to create and manage complex Excel spreadsheets, including nested formulas, pivot tables and graphics.
