Vegware provides more than simply foodservice packaging. Our solution-based approach spans comprehensive creative and environmental consultancy to deliver our clients’ brand along with full zero waste programs for foodservice.

We are established as market leader in the UK and are expanding rapidly in Europe. We have set up a US subsidiary to drive North American sales and require a talented and ambitious sales person to join at the start of what we plan on being an exciting growth story.

The Role

Sales Manager

Main purpose and duties

To drive new business and establish a solid territory with a focus on the West Coast. You will identify and develop key distribution partners and open opportunities with National accounts including contract caterers, education sector, healthcare and retail food chains.

Working closely with our Zero Waste Consultant and established partners you will target customers for whom our food and packaging, waste recycling solution opens supply opportunities.

The main duties are:

• Make a substantial contribution to our overall sales strategy and play a significant part in delivering the overall sales budget through sales across all sectors.
• Develop the sales pipeline in line with our sales strategy through cold calling, attending networking events, visiting clients, account management and working closely with rest of the US team.
• Establish new distribution partners and seek joint opportunities following our push / pull strategy.
• Build demand at site level to achieve leverage with national contract caterers.
• Prepare, Manage and execute sales projects in line with the sales strategy.
• Actively seek out new major business opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a full understanding of Vegware products and services.
• Gain product feedback from customers for use in ongoing marketing activities, product research and development.
• Keep our database of customer contacts accurate and updated with details of sales activity.
• Provide training and presentations to sales teams within our new distribution partners.
• Understand and implement our commercial strategy.
• Inspire a new potential client base with the innovative products and services that Vegware brings.

Skills and abilities

• Excellent sales skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Effective time management skills – able to prioritize and make the most efficient use of your time.
• Ability to deliver first class customer service.
• Ability and drive to reach targets.
• Ability to manage and motivate others.
• You will need to be a team player – working with and supporting the rest of the team in the US office, as well as regular contact with our head office in Edinburgh, Scotland for UK based support.

Experience

• Good direct sales experience.
• Experience of delivering exceptional customer care in a sales situation.
• Experience of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Ideally you will have experience of line management.
• Experience of the foodservice packaging or related markets would be an advantage.

Knowledge

Knowledge of the foodservice packaging market would be an advantage but is not essential.

Personal Attributes

You will be a good worker, well presented, articulate and highly motivated as well as being honest, supportive and reliable.

Special requirements
• You should have a genuine passion for the environment
• Driving license
