Full-Time Project Manager – Innovation and Industry Support Division

Job Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for managing the implementation of various Innovation and Industry Support Division projects and programs at MassCEC.  The Project Manager will develop solicitations, and assist in the development of programs related to MassCEC’s energy storage, manufacturing, and resilience related work, manage program related consultants, coordinate and participate in review of grant applications, coordinate with other MassCEC divisions as necessary, collect and verify metrics related to grants, supervise one or more project administrators, and evaluate and report on program activities. The Project Manager will primarily assist and report to the Director of Market Development.

 

Job Duties

  • Participate on teams for the design, implementation and evaluation of programs and projects to support the work of the Innovation & Industry Support Division in growing the Massachusetts clean energy economy. Specifically, the Project Manager will support the Director of Market Development in supporting programs in emerging markets and areas of activity including energy storage, advanced manufacturing and resilience.  This work will include supporting existing programs in these fields, and developing new initiatives that support MassCEC’s clean energy industry growth objectives.
  • Responsibilities will include:
    • Creating and managing timelines for multiple parallel projects
    • Managing programs with established goals and metrics
    • Managing and carrying out research projects to provide background on potential new programs and projects
    • Drafting documents using established protocols to provide background and request authorization from the MassCEC and the MassCEC Board
    • Developing solicitations and requests for proposals, coordinate and participate in review of applications, review proposals and applications
    • Managing contract negotiations
    • Managing contracts on an ongoing basis with consultants and awardees during the project implementation process
    • Collecting, evaluating and reporting on project and program metrics
    • Lead the coordination of events to promote programs
  • In concert with the Division’s project administrator(s):
    • Oversee the review and approval of grantee invoices based upon project deliverables and timeframes
    • Update staff and supervisors on status of projects and programs
  • Prepare periodic reports on project activities according to established protocol
  • Monitor projects to completion
  • Prepare final project reports according to established protocol
  • Supervise a Project Administrator and university student fellow, as necessary
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Work with project participants and stakeholders (including business and industry partners and government officials) to foster collaborative working relationships which increase the likelihood of project success
  • Assist with planning, organization, and execution of MassCEC-sponsored roundtables and other events managing logistics, planning, identifying/securing speakers and publicity
  • Perform additional tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Innovation Division Directors and Senior Director

 

Position Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in science, public policy, environmental studies, engineering, economics, or other relevant field
  • Advanced degree strongly preferred

Experience:

  • Three to five years of experience in relevant positions of increasing responsibility
  • Demonstrated project management experience, problem-resolution and negotiation skills; organization and detail-oriented task management are of paramount importance for this position
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working independently and managing multiple priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Energy storage, energy resilience, and/or manufacturing experience is desirable

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent quantitative, research and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the cleantech industry
  • Excellent ability to meet deadlines, manage tasks, and pay close attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent PC skills and ability to use related business applications e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, databases, E-mail and Internet
