Full-Time Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist has primary responsibility for day-to-day delivery of efficient human resources services to all CCNB employees. S/he will organize and coordinate a range of HR projects including recruitment and hiring; benefits enrollment; separation; workers compensation; trainings; records management; and general HR administration.  The Human Resources Generalist has frequent interaction with all staff and Corpsmembers, the general public, vendors, and other business partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Employee Relations

  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations and provide appropriate recommendations
  • Contribute to personnel relations intervention/corrective action policy and training requirements
  • Training – provide training on organization policy / procedures as necessary 

Workers Compensation, Safety and Training

  • Manages the day-to-day workers compensation process, including initiating, tracking, and closing WC claims; and ensures proper use of medical leave and Return to Work
  • Ensures compliance with disability management and ADA
  • Participates in the development and delivery of safety and other training meetings by securing vendors, presentation/document preparation, tallying evaluations.

Benefits Administration

  • Manage open enrollment, monthly reconciliation of billing and investigation of benefit challenges
  • Processes benefits enrollment, changes, and termination of coverage

Recruitment, Hiring, and Separation

Corpsmembers:

  • Screens corpsmember applications
  • Coordinates completion of new hire paperwork
  • Processes resignations, rehires, terminations, and generation of correspondence

Staff:

  • Full cycle recruitment of staff positions; job postings, recruitment strategies including implementation of outreach and recruitment activities; developing and maintaining relations with partner agencies; and attending job/career fairs and similar events
  • Implements and develops staff new hire orientation and onboarding process
  • Schedules and conducts exit interviews
  • Coordinates delivery of final pay from finance and receipt to employee on final day

HR Administration

  • Maintains employee database to document, record, update, and track all personnel actions (e.g., hire, promotion, workers comp, LOA, accommodation, etc.)
  • Handles general HR inquiries of a routine nature
  • Implements HR policies and procedures, monitoring employee observance and compliance
  • Generates HR correspondence, presentations, and other written materials as needed.
  • Maintains accurate and thorough HR personnel files.  Implements compliant records retention system through ADP Workforce Now HRIS
  • Overseees the work of the Administrative Associate
  • Interfaces with IT to resolve CCNB staff issues and email maintenance 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years HR experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Knowledge of Federal, California and local labor laws
  • Investigative experience in employee relations (harassment, behavior, safety)
  • Experienced in onboarding, training, and worker’s compensation processes
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, tact and diplomacy
  • CA Driver’s License with clean DMV driving record (1 point or less)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in ADP Workforce Now
  • Bilingual language skills (Spanish/English)
  • Familiarity with Conservation Corps, AmeriCorps, youth development projects, Non-profits or related organizations
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • PHR/SPHR desired

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Human Resources Generalist is a full time, salaried, exempt position eligible for a full benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Chiropractic, 401K Retirement and generous vacation, holiday and sick pay. Salary starts at $52,000 annually.
