Full-Time Executive Director
LINK Houston is a newly forming advocacy group focused on increasing mobility options for the diverse communities that live, work and play in Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city. The organization grows from a series of community conversations convened by The Houston Endowment. LINK Houston’s vision is to create a city where Houstonians have the mobility to access the opportunities their vibrant city offers. LINK Houston’s mission is to promote safe, comfortable, efficient, accessible and affordable transportation in Houston; its values include being bold, inclusive, respectful and constructive. To be successful, LINK Houston will build a broad-based, city-wide coalition to support transformative and inclusive policies, systems, initiatives and infrastructure development that connects people to opportunity by transit, walking, and biking.
As a new organization, LINK Houston seeks a leader to shape an executable vision, building its programs and engaging in coalition and community building around different forms of transportation and infrastructure spending. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, LINK’s first Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the starting up the organization – establishing vision, strategies, programs, operations and administration of the organization. One of the Executive Director’s first mandates will be to build a team that can simultaneously develop and advocate for policy alternatives for mobility, as well as engage residents and key constituencies in building a strong popular will for those alternatives. Key duties will include visioning, strategic and operational planning, Board management, government affairs, guiding and crafting policy initiatives, using various forms of media to engage in community outreach and mobilization, and fundraising.
