The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality located in Portland, OR currently has 2 openings for Full-Time Environmental Engineer 3’s to join innovative teams and work to advance the agency’s mission to be a leader in restoring, maintaining and enhancing the quality of Oregon’s air, land and water.
About the Department
The Air Quality Division is responsible for protecting the air resources of the state through program planning and development, industrial source control, asbestos control, motor vehicle inspections, and control of other sources of air pollution. The Air Quality Division administers the federal air quality program, by delegation and approval from EPA, and the state requirements.
What will you do?
The successful applicants will conduct engineering reviews of complex plans and permit documents for various large industrial sources and determine compliance with federal and state regulations. The reviews will be conducted to determine accuracy, completeness, and conformance with standards and to prepare and issue or deny permits; oversee the implementation of permits; and initiate appropriate enforcement action. The Environmental Engineer 3 applies engineering principles in evaluating control technologies, emission rates and impacts for a number of existing, new, and modified sources. The Environmental Engineer 3 also provides technical expertise to other program staff, authoritative information and guidance to the public and industries.
