BACKGROUND & SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The International Living Future Institute (ILFI), a dynamic and fast growing non-profit, seeks an exceptional Education Manager to support its programs. ILFI’s mission is to lead and support the transformation toward communities that are socially just, culturally rich and ecologically restorative. The successful candidate must exhibit a strong passion for the environment and the organization’s mission as a whole.

The work of the Education team is focused on inspiring passion and interest as well as building knowledge and skills to transform the building sector via exceptional education and training. The Education Manager’s role is to provide a wide range of management and coordination for the successful development and delivery of our online and live educational offerings. Job tasks include planning, managing, and marketing educational events, conducting research on special projects related to education, helping to design, create, and edit educational content, managing our continuing education and accreditation programs, and supporting ILFI leadership in presenting content globally. The successful candidate must be highly organized and project a professional image through in-person, electronic and phone interaction. The position requires someone who can effectively manage multiple schedules, deadlines and demands. The ability to work independently without much supervision is critical.

This job is full-time, exempt and typically 40 hours per week but also requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule. ILFI has offices in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia and additional staff in Chicago and Boston. This position may require periodic travel within the Pacific Northwest and occasionally beyond.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and is supplemented by ILFI’s generous benefits package that includes health and dental insurance, 403(b) retirement matching (US), three weeks of paid annual leave and 12 days paid annual sick leave.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Programmatic (80%)

• Manage education for ILFI and its programs, including but not limited to conference presentations, live webinars, on demand webinars, live workshops and shoulder events to our 3 annual conferences.

• Manage and grow the Institute’s Living Future Accreditation program.

• Work with Vice President to develop growth, outreach and marketing plans and coordinate across departments to execute them.

• Help develop educational content including slides, speaker notes, quizzes, interactive activities and other supporting materials, as well as maintain and update as needed all existing education materials.

• Manage education partnerships with other like-minded organizations such as Building Green and USGBC.

• Schedule ILFI’s educational events throughout the year and manage the planning and execution of scheduled events .

• Manage continuing education requirements for ILFI programs as they relate to the LEED Credential Maintenance Program, American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System, the Institute’s own Living Future Accreditation program, and other professional associations.

Administrative (20%)

• Provide customer service support.

• Help manage logistical aspects of online education, including updating courses.

• Provide day-to-day oversight and reporting on programs, grants.

• Help manage the education department budget.

• Perform other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Minimum 3-5 years of related professional experience.

• Bachelor’s degree or greater in a field complimentary to job duties and/or mission of the organization.

• Commitment to ILFI’s mission, the green building movement, and sustainability.

• Strong graphic design skills and familiarity with applications such as Microsoft Powerpoint, the Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign.

• Experience in the creation of education programs both in-person and online.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational, outreach and facilitation skills.

• Ability to effectively manage deadlines and delegate tasks as appropriate.

• Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders representing different organizations, backgrounds and perspectives.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of green building design, construction strategies, technologies and materials and the ability to articulate the environmental, health, and economic benefits of green building.

• Experience in a non-profit setting.

• Familiarity with ILFI’s core programs (Living Building Challenge, Living Community Challenge, Living Product Challenge, Net Zero Energy, Declare, JUST).

• Experience with online solutions such as Eventbrite, Webex, Adobe Connect, LMS systems, web-design content management systems, as well as Salesforce

• Mac OS familiarity.

• Living Future Accreditation and/or LEED Accreditation

• Experience effectively managing volunteers.
