Job Description

Overview:  TechLaw, Inc. is seeking an Ecological Risk Assessor to join our team in Golden, CO. Position responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Principal Responsibilities:

• Analyze case files and prepare witness and subject matter binders
• Preparation of baseline ecological risk assessments, screening level ecological risk assessments, and technical memorandums including data management, modeling, statistical evaluation, exposure assessment, hazard identification and dose response assessment;
• Writing of technical environmental investigation reports;
• Development of screening level problem formulation and ecological effects evaluation historical data, site data, and site observations, preliminary exposure estimate and risk calculations;
• Development of work plans that include the study design, data quality objectives and preparation of SAP/QAPPs for sites;
• Conducting site investigations such as field sampling of soil, sediment, groundwater, biota, and/or surface water; preparing reports of site investigation results;
• Preparation of BERAs, SLERAS, and technical memorandums;
• Performing ecological risk assessment calculations using tools such as Microsoft Excel and ProUCL, as well as providing quality control of risk assessment calculations;
• Assist in performing toxicology testing using sediment and surface water, as well as interpretation of resulting data;
• Producing reports explaining ecological risks associated with historical mining sites;
• Interpretation of site characterization data to inform assessment of ecological risks;
• Attending public meetings with clients;
• Some travel required;

 Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Education required: BS degree in Toxicology, Chemistry, Biology, or Ecotoxicology.
