Save the Redwoods League has been preserving redwoods and redwood ecosystems for nearly 100 years, with the mission of protecting and restoring redwood forests and connecting people with their peace and beauty so these wonders of the natural world will continue to flourish.

As the Conservation Programs Assistant, you will provide indispensable administrative support to the Chief Program Officer (CPO) and the Conservation Programs Team (Land, Science and Education).  To be successful, you will expertly manage the CPO’s complex calendar, securing appointments with staff, public officials, League partners and others; you will make travel arrangements for the CPO and the Team; prepare meeting agendas, materials, reports and provide accurate meeting minutes.  The Conservation Programs Assistant will support the overall fulfillment of department duties, including budget preparation, expense reporting, and project tracking.

The Conservation Programs Assistant will also serve as a liaison between the Conservation Programs Department, other League departments, and our outside constituents.  You will field general inquiries from staff and the public, provide maps and project information/updates internally, process mail and invoices, route contracts, coordinate event logistics, work directly with League vendors, and take on special projects as assigned.

To qualify for this opportunity, you will need to have a Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience, at least one year of providing administrative support, be an organized and efficient communicator and a tech-savvy self-starter.  Other highly desirable skills include:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint) required; experience with Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, and Prezi a plus
  • Organized and efficient; capable of managing multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Personal passion for preserving the natural world
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service (especially phone)
  • Sense of humor
