Become a force for nature and a healthy planet by joining the New York team.  As Adirondack Chapter Director, you will lead our work in the unique and globally significant 6,000,000 acre ‘forever wild’ Adirondack Park. Our initiatives in the Adirondack Chapter include nationally leading land conservation, aquatic and terrestrial connectivity, and climate mitigation/adaptation work. The Chapter Director is a member of the New York senior leadership team, and is responsible for the management of conservation, finance, board engagement, and philanthropy operations in the Adirondack Chapter.

 We are looking for a proven leader, eager to embrace the opportunity to deliver leading-edge conservation outcomes that will advance the Conservancy’s mission. The ideal candidate has excellent people skills, hands-on experience inspiring and managing a highly motivated team, knows how to forge successful partnerships, and is an experienced fundraiser. The Adirondack Chapter Director works closely with other New York Division senior leaders, and will be a strategic partner in developing statewide and regional conservation initiatives. We value collaborative approaches, diverse perspectives, and encourage innovative ideas and recommendations.

The ideal candidate will have a background and track record that includes:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 year’s related experience including conservation-based work
  • Fundraising experience
  • Experience managing and implementing multiple projects
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience developing partnerships
  • Proven inclusive leadership and team building skill
  • Strong presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cross cultural and multilingual skills appreciated
  • Successful experience influencing, developing, and implementing successful projects
  • Politically savvy and a confident and capable public speaker
  • Expertise in a conservation/science/policy field related tot he opportunities presented by the position
  • Communication clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English
